Master of Public Policy

The Australian National University

Tirisiane is a senior parliamentary researcher at the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji passionate about understanding and increasing women’s political representation. Currently undertaking her Master of Public Policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Tirisiane intends to further research factors preventing or enabling women being elected to Fijian Parliament. She has extensive experience providing research and advice to Members of Parliament on economic affairs and gender equality – including to mainstream gender equality in parliamentary work.

On multiple occasions, she was awarded for being an outstanding employee by the Parliament of Fiji, where she has undertaken various roles across the Legislative Process Division, Human Resources, and Corporate Services over a decade.

And in 2024, Tirisiane was selected to participate in COP29 in Azerbaijan and gain a deeper understanding of the role of women leaders in climate negotiations as part of a delegation of Australian National University students and researchers.

Upon completion of her studies, Tirisiane hopes to inspire young women to take on leadership positions for community development and intends to establish a mentoring program specifically for aspiring Fijian women politicians.
