For over a decade, Sharon has served the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Government and non-government organisations through environmental conservation, advocacy, and community education. As the Manus Provincial Environment and Climate Change Officer, Sharon provided technical support and leadership to coastal communities vulnerable to climate change and contributed to essential climate change policy development. Prior to this, she taught secondary school students biology and applied science, worked as Manus Marine Conservation Coordinator for The Nature Conservancy, and volunteered with Oxfam International to raise awareness of environmental sustainability in communities.
Sharon joined the Women's Developmental Leadership Program to create networks and support her environmental stewardship. She aims to develop programs, policies and initiatives that bridge the gap between environmental consciousness and actionable sustainable practice.
