Master of Public Policy

The Australian National University

Rose has over 15 years' research and policy experience in the environment and government service sectors. Prior to taking up her Australia Award, Rose was a Senior Policy Analyst for the Conservation and Environment Protection Authority(CEPA) of the Government of Papua New Guinea (PNG). In this role, she led policy and programs relating to biodiversity conservation and environment protection nationally, represented the environment sector in governmental consultations in PNG and abroad, and mentored graduate students and staff. She was also a contributing author of the 6th National (PNG) Report to the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Passionate about minimising threats to PNG's biodiversity, Rose intends to drive the development of a national PNG Ecosystems Valuation Chart - a benchmark for the evaluation of Environmental Impact Studies and issuance of environmental permits to developers that aims to protect ecosystems home to endemic and endangered terrestrial and marine life. Rose holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Ridge to Reef from James Cook University, a Diploma in Leadership and Management from the Institute of Business and Banking, PNG, and a Bachelor of Public Policy Management from The University of PNG.
