Priya has over a decade’s experience working in the field of meteorology, with eight years spent as a meteorologist. Specialising in public, marine and aviation weather forecasting and early warning, Priya has conducted national weather forecasting as a Scientific Officer for Fiji’s Meteorological Service. After completing her on-Award studies in which she will investigate rainfall variability in Fiji, Priya intends to return to this role.
Priya is passionate about disaster risk management and the role of women as active, engaged, front-line advocates promoting the disaster reduction process on the islands of Fiji. She has also taught undergraduate science students as a Lecturer in Meteorology and Tutor at Fiji National University and The University of Melbourne, respectively.
