Melissa is a Ni-Vanuatu woman and activist with experience and skills in marketing, partnerships, sport journalism, event management, and humanitarian and preparedness response communication. She was formerly Marketing Manager of the Vanuatu Cricket Association and is currently Program Coordinator for Team Up, an Australian Government program supporting Pacific partnerships that encourages sport as a way to bring people together and champion inclusion.

In2020, she was nominated for the International Sports Press Association’s Sports Awards in the Young Reporter’s Writing Category. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Melissa initiated a relief drive and engaged cricket communities to raise and deliver food, clothing and other household supplies to communities on Santo that were most impacted. After completing her studies, Melissa intends to start a sports leadership and development program for women and young people to access life-changing education and employment opportunities through sport.
