Melissa has cumulative expertise in financial management, policy formulation and policy monitoring and evaluation, and is committed to serving in the public sector. Ina leadership capacity, she was a Policy Analyst for The Fiji Higher Education Commission; a statutory body established to regulate Fiji's higher education sector. She has worked on educational projects and policies which have been presented to Permanent Secretaries and Ministers and endorsed by government.
Melissa has aspirations to expand on and tap into evidence-based policy and research, and to improve governance in Fiji’s public sector. She hopes to empower the next generation of Fijian leaders to arise to challenges and address a culture of silence that she believes hinders public progress. Melissa has previously earned her Post Graduate Diploma in Commerce from the University of the South Pacific and Bachelor of Accounting from Fiji National University, among other qualifications.
