Lomot is a midwife educator at St Mary’s School of Nursing and active member of PNG and East Britain Midwifery Societies. She is passionate about respectful maternity care and access to equitable basic health services. Given the high rate of maternal mortality in Papua New Guinea, Lomot runs community engagement programs with girls and women on issues such as domestic violence, sexual and reproductive health, maternal health and family planning.
Lomot is hopeful that the skills and networks she develops through the Women’s Leadership Initiative will assist her to educate women and girls about their rights to health care. She hopes to review existing domestic violence referral pathways and address challenges in the accessibility of family planning services.
