Master of Social Work (Qualifying)
Australian Catholic University
Albertine is a trained social worker who has been supporting survivors of gender-based violence and strengthening support systems for almost a decade. Prior to taking up her Australia Award, Albertine worked as a Capacity Development Coordinator within Papua New Guinea’s (PNG)Department of Provincial and Local-level Government Affairs. In this role, Albertine contributed to annual activity programs under the District Capacity Development Division. Prior to this, she provided clinical and individual case support for clients of Family PNG and supported refugee resettlement with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in PNG.
After completing her Australia Award studies, Albertine intends to address capacity gaps in PNG’s gender-based violence response systems, including by reviewing policies and laws that regulate services. She hopes her participation in the Women’s Developmental Leadership Program will help her connect with other women leaders while building the leadership and communication skills needed to drive positive change.
