In the past, mentors were matched with participants at the commencement of their participation in the WDLP. This offering has been extended is now tailored to suit the specific needs of participants/alumni at different times in their leadership journey.
Examples of mentorships in this phase of the program
The mentor matching examples below may help participants and alumni determine the type and purpose of engaging a mentor in this phase of their leadership journey.
- An Australian woman working at Australia's top independent law firm assisted in the development of an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework for a Fiji-based alumna. The framework was relevant to the financial institution where the alumna works, and the mentor had extensive experience working on ESG's in the financial space.
- An Australian-based participant (on Award) hoped to be connected with a mentor who could help them set up their own consultancy and provide insights into web/digital engagement. The mentor, an Australian woman with experience working in the Pacific, started her own media consultancy and has extensive experience working in communications roles in Australia and abroad.
- A Fiji-based alumna requested a mentor to coach her through a new role she was starting at a newly established commission. A mentor who had been working at the equivalent commission in Australia for almost two decades and played a vital role in its evolution was provided.
