Women’s Developmental Leadership Program alumni in Papua New Guinea recently came together in Port Moresby to connect and learn more about accessing WLI’s Leadership Fund to address real development challenges in their country.
During a December 2024 conference event hosted at Airways Hotel by WLI Alumni Representatives Mary Konobo, Dorothy Jolly, and Elizabeth Dumu, the PNG leaders came together to discuss upcoming plans and ways of working together strategically to drive positive change.
Most attendees joined in person, while those based outside of Port Moresby joined virtually via video conferencing.
Mary Konobo reflected that attendees left the conference inspired to collaborate with each other and with a better understanding of how to use the Fund to build on and enhance existing structures and efforts for positive change, rather than to “reinvent the wheel”.
Through the Fund, WLI participants and alumni work together to scope and implement initiatives that address real challenges in the Pacific region in health, education, agriculture and food security, and safety and protection.
WLI alumni in the Pacific Islands stay connected to the program and each other, apply to access the Leadership Fund, and learn about upcoming alumni-only events via the WLI Leaders Hub.
