Nehusita Vakaola

Nehusita is a registered nurse of nine years, passionate about changing attitudes, lifestyles and behaviours to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCD) in Tonga. Nehusita was the Assistant Nurse Unit Manager of the Paediatric Ward in Tonga’s main hospital and has mentored and guided new staff and students. Her role also involved staff and resource management, and critical patient management and care.

Nehusita hopes to strengthen her leadership skills in order to influence policies and practices that can support nursing staff working to prevent lifestyle-related disease in Tonga.

Dr Robyn Gallagher

Professor of Nursing, The University of Sydney, NSW

Robyn is the Professor of Nursing at The University of Sydney and Editor for the International Journal of Advanced Nursing. She has been awarded the top national and international prizes in her field for her research; including in secondary prevention strategies for patients who have heart disease and diabetes.

Robyn has delivered countless conference presentations and lectures in Australia and internationally, and in 2019, she was elected to deliver the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association Alan GobleOration based on her contribution to the field. Robyn is also well-known for her mentoring, having supervised many Higher Degree Research students to completion, including at PhD level.
