Malisa and Susan

Malisa is a Certified Practicing Accountant. She has worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in tax and legal services and has held roles as treasurer in community organisations. Malisa is keen to simplify Papua New Guinea’s taxation legislation so that individuals understand it more clearly and can recognise the importance of raising tax revenue for economic growth.

Malisa is also interested in working closely with community church groups to address social and economic issues affecting young people. She intends to use her accounting and taxation skills to assist youth to secure scholarships, education and employment opportunities. She hopes that the Women’s Leadership Initiative will equip her with the skills and relevant networks to mentor and inspire Papua New Guinea’s young people.

Susan is an experienced curator of events, spaces and knowledge, and has developed a number of programs to transform cultural and heritage services across Western Australia.
In her current role, Susan supports UWA academics to successfully run research conferences on campus. She is also the Designer and Curator of the Mello House Wanju Program, an indigenous engagement program which conducts a series of events aimed at improving awareness of issues relevant to the First Nations peoples.

Susan has led strategic initiatives at the City of Perth and City of South Perth Libraries, building partnerships with a range of service providers and other stakeholders to provide innovative and progressive services to the local communities.
