Kristalee Horoto

Kristalee is determined to improve the quality of care and health outcomes for emergency patients in Solomon Islands. As a clinical nurse consultant at Honiara’s National Referral Hospital (NRH), she helped develop a new patient triaging system, now being implemented in hospitals throughout the country; and updated clinical workplace standard operating procedures for the NRH emergency department. Kirstalee now hopes to standardise patient handover procedures between hospital and ambulance staff, and to roll these out around the Solomon Islands.

On completion of her studies, Kristalee hopes to empower emerging clinical leaders in both nursing and medicine to improve service delivery.

Nicole (Nicki) Kerkemeyer

Nurse Manager and Educator, Flinders Medical Centre
and Noarlunga Hospital, SA

Nicki has worked as an operating theatre nurse for over 15 years in a large tertiary public trauma hospital. She is currently the Associate Nurse Unit Manager of Perioperative Education across two hospital sites and developed the Perioperative Mentoring Program at Flinders Medical Centre.

Nicki has leadership experience supervising nursing students, nursing graduates and supporting the continued education of all nursing staff. She is also a Trainer and Assessor for Advanced Life Support, Paediatric Life Support, and the self-initiated Graduate Transition Support Program She is passionate about staff wellbeing and the continued professional development and education of nurses.
