Rini Harriet Sam

Master of Health Services Management
University of Technology Sydney, NSW

Harriet is underway with her Master of Health Services Management at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has worked as a nurse for more than 10 years and she has a strong interest in nursing education. She also has held positions of responsibility in her church as orchestra leader, solo singer and choir member, and she has set up a health clinic - Omega HCC - in her community, in partnership with her husband.

Harriet would like to close the gap in continuity of patient care from hospitals to community clinics in Vanuatu. In 2020, she will return to Vanuatu to be the next principal of the Vanuatu College of Nursing, and it is in this position that she will have the opportunity to realise her goal.

Karen Kenny

Health Services and Health Systems Strengthening Specialist, QLD

Karen is an experienced leader and manager of international and domestic programs with a focus on safe, accessible health services. She has worked on health service delivery and health systems strengthening initiatives in Australia, Fiji, PNG, Nauru, Kiribati and Timor Leste, Colombia and Bhutan. In addition to a Bachelor of Nursing, Karen holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health and a Masters of Health Science (Management).

Karen has worked in a range of clinical and teaching roles and settings. She has been a critical care specialist in Brisbane and New York, and provided clinical teaching and mentorship of nurses in university and hospital-based training programs. She has developed health training materials, tutored in public health, and undertaken a risk and quality assurance role in America's insurance industry.
